Researchers developed a five-layer hierarchical joint model to infer spatial fish distribution by integrating fishery-independent and fishery-dependent data. This model addresses zero-inflated observations and differentiates how preferential sampling affects both species presence-absence and biomass under presence, yielding more robust parameter estimates and superior predictive capability than single-source models.
