Researchers from a multi-institutional collaboration conducted the first holistic survey bridging solutions and benchmarks in LLM-empowered agentic systems for software engineering. The work reviews over 150 recent papers, proposing a novel taxonomy to systematically categorize solutions from prompt-based to advanced agentic systems, alongside comprehensive benchmarks for tasks like code generation and program repair, and identifies key future research directions.
